Beijing Auto Show 2008 LIVE: Roewe 550
210408, Beijing Auto Show. The Roewe 550 is SAIC's second car from the Roewe brand besides the Rover based 750. This one is their own and it looks great and maybe even more important, it looks original.
It was expected that SAIC would also show a Ssang Yong based SUV with Roewe badges but that didn't happen, they problably didn't want to loose any attention for the 550. They brought 4 brandnew 550's to the show, including the D5 prototype which has 'revolitionary' electronics in the dashboard. The D stands for Digital, nothing to do with diesel.
The 550's engine is SAIC's own 1.8 litre tubo which is also used in the 750. For sale in China soon, expected price in dollars from 18.000 on.
