Beijing Autoshow Live: Longbo Hummer invades China

280408, Beijing Autoshow. China does not care about the global anti-suv-hype, neither does it care about high fuel prices. The rich and famous Chinese want Hummers, real Hummers.

The H2 is very popular in China, I see a lot of them running around trough Beijing and they do impress more than a humble Range Rover. But this popularity brings problems, a Hummer starts to become a normal car, just as that boring BMW X6 already is.

Longbo Hummer helps, it took 3 cars to the Beijing Auto Show, one Hummer Limo, one Scissor-door and the 'standard' customized H2. They had diamonds and silver all over, packed with dvd-screens and Bose soundsystems, and the Chinese loved it.

The customizing is done in Longbo's factory in Dalian on China's Eastcoast but according to Longbo's crappy website the headoffice is in Huntington Beach, Calafornia.

When I took the pictures a Chinese journalist wanted to be funny and asked a Longbo salesrep whether the diamond clad wheels would be available on Chinese Hummer clones, the salesrep looked very angry, did not reply and walked away.

But as the Chinese say: "Just give 'm a little money and they'll do everything." Scissor doors soon avaiable on the Beijing Auto Works B60.
