Beijing Auto Show 2008 LIVE: Changan V802

270408, Beijing Autoshow. Changan Auto from Chongqing in central China is a long time joint venture partner from Ford, they make among other the Focus, Mondeo and Volvo V40 together.

Aside from that Changan has a joint venture with Suzuki which produces the Swift and SX4. Since a few years Changan is at it alone as well, they make the already famous Benben and Benben Sports which are very popular minicars in China. Now they want to go upmarket so they showed a few semi-concepts to make the world see what's coming.

I call this kind of car semi-concept because it is 'officially' still a concept but looks like it can be on the market whenever Changan decides so. This is the V802, it has a 1.8 litre engine and has the same size as a Ford Focus. That's why the Chinese press is speculating about the V802's underpinnings, is it Focus there or not? Changan made no comments about it so it problably is.
