BYD S6 Official

BYD released two pictures of the new S6 SUV and it loox exactly like the spy shots we saw earlier. BYD did its best to give the front some BYDness but it still has a lot of the last gen Lexus RX in the lines. No surprise of course, BYD loves Toyota. Hope they didn’t copy those floor mats and acceleration issues.

New Buick Excelle GT NAKED

Earlier today we had spy shots of the new Buick Excelle, first. Now again a first, we have the car completely naked. Here she is. Good news: most powerful engine at introduction is the 1.6 turbo with 180 hp (135kw) and 235nm torque.

Live: Chery-Rely X5

Today I went to the Beijing Automobile Trade Show in the Agricultural Exhibition Centre in Beijing. The show is an initiative of a couple of local dealers and meant to give buyers another possibility to spend their money on wheels. One popular was this brand new Rely X5, the balloons came for free at the entrance.

Chevrolet Sail Hatchback is OUT

Kind of out that is ’cause I don’t think SAIC-GM wanted to world to see just yet. The Sail hatchback will debut at the Beijing Auto Show at the end of this month but this not too good looking silver car was seen somewhere near the factory in Shanghai.

Brilliance-BMW Goes Big with 535Li

Brilliance-BMW will start building the new 5 in China soon. And as Benz did only last week, BMW makes one special for China. Real Chinese men like to be driven. The 535Li is 14 centimetre longer than the standard car, all that space is for the passengers in the back. To emphasize the long-car’s Chineseness BMW came up with some very louzy photoshops:

Chery Riich M5 is OUT

The Riich M5 is an interesting looking car and based on the M1 hatchback. But medium-prenium Riich really tried to give it a face of it’s own that fits the new name. ‘M1 sedan’ would have been much more logical but in Cheryworld it is not. That is why we like Cheryworld even though it is sometimes a bit hard to find our way around.
BYD L3 is OUT

The L3 is a new ‘prenium’ car from BYD meant to compete not only with Geely and Chery but with the big boys from the joint ventures such as the Volkswagen Lavida. The new machine certainly loox better than all other BYD’s including the F6 which slots theoratically above the L3 is BYD’s line-up.

Huatai B11; the Numbers (some)

More details emerged on Huatai’s luxury B11. Size: 4943×1856x1516, wheelbase: 2770. Weight: 1486. Engine: SAIC’s 1.8 turbo (18K4G) that also drives to Roewe 550 and 750. In the 750 it delivers 118kw@5500rpm and 215nm@2500-4500. Other engines are Huatai’s own 2.0 diesel and a Mitsubshi-sourced 2.4 petrol (4G69).

Chery-Rely X5 is OUT

Rely is one of Chery’s brands and their long awaited X5 suv is finally on the market. The good looking thing comes with only one engine, a 2.0 Ateco with 125kw@5500rpm and 235nm@1900nm. That torque might make it a little useful off road. Price is 159.800 rmb. Nice price for a nice machine, but there is one thing about it I really like:

Dongfeng-Nissan Livina Facelift

Dongfeng-Nissan couldn’t wait for the Beijing Auto Show because with all that news nobody would care about the Livina. So they had their little ceremony yesterday to reveil the facelifted machine. The Livina is a kind of cross vehicle, crossed between an mpv a wagon and a hatchback, but strangely Nissan decided for a crossover-version that even more strangely became a great succes. First picture above: the new Livina crossover.
