Wuling’s Sedan to be Branded Baojun

SAIC-GM-Wuling makes minivans and the Chevrolet Spark. SAIC-GM wants Wuling to become an entry-level brand so it needs more cars to sell. Wuling showed a concept sedan called ‘Demo Car’ on a dealer show in 2009, wearing Wuling-badges. But it seems the new sedan will hit la market with a different brand name, not Wuling but Baojun. Info on the logo and name leaked from ‘China Trademark Net’, a website where companies can register trademarks.

2.0 for China-spec Cadillac SLS

Cadillac wants a bigger market share in China and goes cheaper to get it. The SLS will get the 2.0 turbo four-cilinder from the Buick Regal/Opel Insignia with 220hp and 350nm. Cadillac will price the 2.0 SLS just under 400.000 yuan. The current entry level SLS costs 448.000 yuan, that one comes with a 3.0 V6 with 272hp and 300nm. Production Zotye Langjie Started

Fiat sold the Palio and Siena platforms to small automaker Zotye. Earlier, Fiat sold Zotye the Multipla and Lancia Lybra platforms to Zotye as well. The Multipla went into production last year and Zotye brought the Langjun (Siena) and Langjie (Palio) to the Beijing Auto Show in April.

Production of the Langjie has now started, it is rolling of the line in Zotye’s brand new factory in Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province. Price from 50.000 to 70.000 yuan. Engine a Mitsubishi-sourced 1.3 with 65kw and 115nm and a 1.5 with 88kw and 147nm. Production of the Langjun will start soon.

New Car: Chang’an-Volvo S80L T6

The S80L is the first new Volvo to hit the Chinese market under Geely’s ownership. The car is made in China by Volvo’s joint venture with Chang’an Automotive, the jv also makes the S40. Geely will continue production until their own Volvo-factory is ready, likely in 2012.

Chery-Riich G5 ‘Messi’ – Special Edition

Chery brings a special edition Riich G5 to the market. It is meant to ‘honor’ the World Cup and is called ‘Messi’, to Lionel Messi of Argentina. Could be a good idea, Mr Messi is very popular in China. The G5 Messi gets a lot of extra sportyness, new wheels, new grille, and costs 138.800 rmb. Good deal, the standard car costs between 142.800 and 179.800.

Geely-Emgrand EC8 Interior

The Geely-Emgrand EC8 debuted at the Beijing Auto Show. The EC8 was formerly known as Geely-Emgrand EC825, Geely decided to ditch ‘25′. Geely said the EC8 would be on the market ‘in the second half of 2010′. Well, ain’t that now?, but yet no trace of the EC8 at the dealers. It won’t be long though before it finally gets there, these pictures show the interior of the poduction version of the EC8. Chinese like fake wood, check. Chinese like fake alu: check. Chinese like fake wood and fake alu in the same interior: check. A Geely-job wel done.

JAC YueYue Priced

JAC’s new YueYue minicar debuted at the Beijing Auto Show, it will hit the market in August for a very cheap 30.000 to 40.000 rmb. Size: 3535×1640×1475, wheelbase is 2390. Engine a 1.0 litre 4-cilinder with 50kw and 95nm, 5-speed manual or auto. Top speed is 150km/h.

New Car: Chang’an CX20 Cross

The Chang’an CX20 is a cross-vehicle based on the BebBen but a bit bigger and higher. It debuted yesterday at the Chongqing Auto Show in Chongqing, this is also the city where Chang’an is based. Size: 3880×1700x1568. Engine: the 1.3 from la BenBen with 63kw and 110nm, manual, top speed: 155 km/h. Price will start around 65.000 rmb, it’ll hit the market this month.

Suzuki Swift ‘Champion’ Edition

Chang’an-Suzuki will soon start making the all new Suzuki Swift. Its worldwide debut will be at the Paris Auto Show this October. To get rid of the old stock Chang’an-Suzuki presents this ‘Champion’-edition with a lot of spoilers and sporty wheels. They say it is a ‘limited’ edition, I guess limited meaning until they got no Swifts no more. The Champion debuts tomorrow at the Chongqing Motor Show with the 1.5 four-cilinder with 76hp and 138nm. Price yet unknown but likely around 90.000 yuan. Update: it costs 83.800 rmb for the manual and 93.800 for the automatic.

Buick Excelle GT from 150.000 rmb, sales start June 23

Dealers in Beijing ask a 1000 rmb deposit if one wants to buy the new Buick Excelle GT. This shows the market is waiting eagerly for GM’s new medium size sedan based on the European Opel Astra.
