I haven’t seen a single one here in Beijing, the Jiayu hit la market in ‘08 so something is indeed wrong. Greatwall thinks it got the solution: a Jiayu Cross.

The Greatwall Haval H5 is the successor  of the Greatwall Hover. It comes in two: this one called ‘European Style’ with a modest front and one other called ‘GKC Edition‘ with a typical new Chinese front with a huge grille. Except for the front both cars are completely identical and both will hit the market at the same time in a few months.

The H5 ‘European Style’ is also meant to spearhead Greatwall’s invasion of Europe, that is why the name. For that it got a Diesel which those Europeans like, especially the Italians ’cause a diesel means less tax and so more money for vino.

Beijing Auto Show Live: Greatwall Haval H6

Published on April 30, 2010 by Tycho

Haval is Greatwall’s new brandname for SUV, it should have been ‘Hover’ but GW was unable to register that name in any country abroad so Haval it was. The H6 came as a concept but will see production within a year. It stands on the same platform as the H5’s but is 20 centimeter lower to give it a more sporty/crossover/luxurious look. Greatwall doesn’t specify the engine so likely it will be another 2.4.

Greatwall goes into sedans, and to do that properly in China one needs a new brand. Published on April 18, 2010 by Tycho

This is the new Greatwall Tengyi C50, a very well looking sedan that will slot nicely above the new C30 we saw earlier this week. There is however, not the slightest doubt that Greatwall will find space for a C40. Greatwall went translating again and came up with the English name for Tengyi, 腾翼, it became

Voleex! A new name is born. The C50 will get 1.8 and 2.0 engines and price will start around 140.000 rmb.
